Objective
The site is close to the rail station and the brief was to design a 18-room boarding house that would align with the existing streetscape character, which was predominately Federation houses. JSA Studio took a design approach which utilised materials and massing typical of Federation buildings. Scaling devices helped integrate the proposed 3-storey building with the single-storey context.
